Every Saturday the men’s section put out eight teams, playing at levels to suit any ability.
On a Thursday evening throughout the season we provide structured training sessions which are free to all club members. Times are as follows
7-8pm General club session 8-10pm 1st and 2nd XI squads only
All captains attend a weekly selection meeting, where players are selected, along with any other issues that need to be raised or addressed. This ensures that the club fields the strongest teams possible from week to week and selection is fair and consistent. We have a strong policy of promoting junior players which is evident in many of our teams. Several ex-juniors are now key members of the 1st and 2nd XIs.
The teams The 1st XI play in the South Premier League, perhaps the most competitive regional league in the country. After several seasons in the National League there is little doubt that some of the current fixtures offer a better standard of hockey without all the travelling. Needless to say playing on a Saturday and being able socialise afterwards helps! The 2nd and 3rd XI also play in the South Leagues where the standard and level of competition remains high. The other sides compete in various Sussex leagues. Be sure to visit each individual team page via this site for details of leagues, fixtures and results.
As a club we enter numerous national and county cup competitions at various levels. As a general rule these games take place on a Sunday.
The cost Subscriptions and match fees are payable in the form of a direct debit agreement, so you will only require cash for the bar!
In addition to a financial cost, players are strongly encouraged to enter into the spirit of a club ethos. On a weekly basis there are jobs to do - to field 8 teams a week doesn’t just happen. Volunteers are always needed to umpire matches, coach or assist with junior teams, organise social events etc. If your interested in getting involved speak to anyone on the committee – details from the contacts section.
