Having looked forward to seeing our tennis courts at Southdown Tennis Club back full of players again, we were overwhelmingly thrilled to see hundreds of new children and families heading down Cockshut Road to come and play tennis with us during the Easter Holidays.
Children and adults of all abilities were welcome to join the Easter Tennis Camp and they came in their masses. Thankfully with the help of Southdown’s 16 tennis courts, hockey pitch and incredible spacious grounds, the club and coaching team were ready and pumped to make this an incredible week for everyone who attended, especially knowing just how tough the past few months in lockdown have been for so many.
The week proved to be a brilliant success with children from the age of 4yrs up to 14yrs playing tennis for their first ever time and loving it, running around the courts and loving it, hitting balls and also missing balls and still loving it.
Every day the camp began with a highly active warm-up and which led onto a different tennis theme with fun challenging drills and competitions. At the end of each day the children got more and more excited to play in our infamous tennis team games which were then followed by a little prize giving for them all.
One of our biggest highlights of the week was seeing so many children, especially the bigger ones, searching every inch around the courts, desperately looking for Easter Eggs, but then passing what they found on to their new friends they made whilst here at the camp.
It was also fantastic to see so many brave parents stepping onto the courts for our ‘Parents Taster Sessions’ and having such a great time. Possibly enjoying, what had quickly become their camp too, even more than their kids.
Southdown Sports Club looks forward to seeing all of you who attended back up at the club again soon and welcomes everyone to join us at our next tennis camp in the May / June half-term week. To book on please click the button below.
