Keith is an LTA level 5 Master Performance Coach and Qualified LTA Coach Tutor with over 20 years of coaching experience and a degree in Sports Science, Physical Education & Recreational Management from Loughborough University.
His role as Head Coach is centred on creating a healthy, thriving club by managing and delivering the club’s adult and junior coaching programme’s in collaboration with the coaching team. Keith is incredibly passionate about helping people to enjoy the game of tennis and creating fun but challenging learning environments for everyone to develop and progress.
Keith has coached in many schools, parks, clubs and academies and has been privileged to work with players at all levels from complete beginners to elite juniors and Grand Slam level seniors. Having grown up in Sussex to become 18u County Champion and a National level junior himself, he is very proud to also be the County Performance Manager for Sussex, in a dual role.
Before starting at Southdown, Keith worked for the LTA for 12 years as the LTA London & South East Region’s Performance Manager and was based at the National Tennis centre. During his time with the LTA, he led the regional training programme, assisted with national training camps and captained Great Britain’s 10u, 12u and 16u teams. He also managed the LTA’s investment across a network of coaching programmes and developed and delivered a region-wide coach education programme.

Lydia is an LTA level 4 Senior Performance Coach.
Lydia started playing tennis at the age of 8 years old at her local outdoor tennis club in Brighton where she became a top county level junior, before moving onto Virgin Active Brighton where she progressed her tennis to a national level in her teens. She represented Sussex in both the county junior teams and the senior teams and is very proud to now have the role of Sussex Ladies Team Captain.
Before joining the team at Southdown last year, Lydia previously worked for 12 years as a tennis coach at Virgin Active Brighton and Halton Tennis Club, where she built up a lot of expertise and experience working in club environments and teaching all ages and abilities. Lydia is incredibly enthusiastic on court and passionate about tennis and is looking forward to helping everyone with their tennis at Southdown Sports Club.
She is a born and bred Brightonian, a massive Manchester United fan who enjoys watching all sports, socialising with friends and family and a nice glass of red wine!

Ryan is an LTA level 3 Tennis Coach / Sussex U18 Boys County Captain.
Ryan grew up in Hove and started playing tennis from a young age, achieving a career high GB junior ranking of 3 in 2016 and competed in National/International events against some of the top juniors in the world. Ryan represented his home county of Sussex in the county junior teams for many years, reaching the U14/U18 National finals. Last season he took on the role of Sussex Boys 18u Coach Captain.
Ryan has been coaching at Southdown for over 6 years and has gained invaluable experience working to support the club, helping grow both the tennis section and the coaching programmes across a variety of ages and abilities. He is very passionate about the club, it’s members and the game of tennis and loves working with players of all levels and experience to help them to maximise their potential.

Luke is an LTA Level 3 Tennis Coach with a Psychology BSc and is currently enrolled on the MSc in Psychology of Sport and Exercise at the University of Roehampton.
Luke has been playing tennis since he was 7 years old and is passionate about it both as one of the best forms of exercise for all round wellbeing but also as an extremely enjoyable sport. Growing up he played County and Regional competitions alongside taking great pride in representing his club in every team tennis match available. During a Gap Year in Australia (2016) he trained at the Australian National Tennis Centre in Melbourne and competed in the state of Victoria whilst gaining invaluable coaching experience at Caulfield Grammar School.
Luke has experience teaching children and adults ranging from total beginners through to nationally competing players. Through this he has learnt the value of constantly learning while teaching, feeding into the adaptable coaching style he adopts. Luke’s main goal as a coach is to foster a long-term appreciation of the game by addressing each individual player’s mental, technical, tactical and physical needs in an environment that he hopes is both demanding and fun. Evidenced by his place on a Master’s course in the Psychology of Sport and Exercise and his aim to become a chartered sport psychologist, he values the mental side of the sport and its influence on all areas of the game.
Luke is always keen to talk and share ideas on the psychology of the sport and how it can help players at all levels.
Ellie is an LTA level 3 Tennis Coach
Having started playing tennis at the age of 7, she joined Southdown as a junior member at the age of 12. Ever since then, she has fallen more and more in love with the club and the members. Ellie also started assisting with the coaching at the club from the age of 14 and became a full time coach working here when she turned 18 years.
Ellie has represented Sussex as a county level junior from the age of 8 and reached a highest national ranking of 4th in her teens, gaining her a scholarship to Eastbourne College. She still plays to a very high level and is part of the current Ladies Sussex County team.
Ellie loves to coach tennis to all ages and abilities and brings infectious energy to the court to help keep everyone motivated. She is very excited about the future of the club and is looking forward to growing the tennis section alongside working with such a great team.
