Ryan Green

Head Coach

LTA Level 3 Accredited + Coach / Sussex U18 Boys County Captain

Ryan has been coaching at Southdown for 10 years working with a variety of ages and abilities.

Ryan began his career at the club as a junior where in 2016 he achieved a GB ranking of 2. In the 2015/16/17 seasons he recorded a number of victories against players ranked inside the world top 100 (ITF Junior ranking). Ryan competed at some of the most prestigious events in the British calendar including National Championships, National Tour Finals, lifting the title on 2 occasions at Nottingham and Sutton, and in 2011 reached the semi final of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon. In 2019 Ryan was selected for the role as Sussex U18 boys captain.

In 2017 Ryan took on a more senior coaching role at the club, working under LTA Master Performance Coach Luke Milligan for 4 years. During this time he had the privilege of working with many of the UK’s elite junior players in a squad and individual setting. Alongside his performance role Ryan enjoyed working with adults and juniors of all levels. Ryan is very passionate about the club, its members and the game of tennis and enjoys working with players of all levels and abilities to help maximise their potential.

Ellie Dasent

Coach

LTA level 3 Tennis Coach

Having started playing tennis at the age of 7, she joined Southdown as a junior member at the age of 12. Ever since then, she has fallen more and more in love with the club and the members. Ellie also started assisting with the coaching at the club from the age of 14 and became a full time coach working here when she turned 18 years.

Ellie has represented Sussex as a county level junior from the age of 8 and reached a highest national ranking of 4th in her teens, gaining her a scholarship to Eastbourne College. She still plays to a very high level and is part of the current Ladies Sussex County team.

Ellie loves to coach tennis to all ages and abilities and brings infectious energy to the court to help keep everyone motivated. She is very excited about the future of the club and is looking forward to growing the tennis section alongside working with such a great team.

Adrian Draghici

Part-Time and Saturday Coach

LTA Level 3 RPT National/Performance Coach
Adrian is originally from Romania and has been coaching in various locations around Europe and Sussex.
He joined the Southdown Club on a part time basis in 2022.
Adrian is also the 11U Girls Sussex County Captain

Lizzy Thoms

Part-Time and Saturday Coach

RPT national/performance coach, LTA accredited, Sussex u18 girls captain

Lizzy has over ten years of coaching experience working with all levels both in the UK and US. She played division 1 NCAA tennis at the University of Texas at Arlington where she earned her BA in Kinesiology. Having recently returned back home to Sussex, Lizzy is excited to work with you no matter what your level is!

Keith Pullin

Keith is an LTA level 5 Master Performance Coach and Qualified LTA Coach Tutor with over 20 years of coaching experience and a degree in Sports Science, Physical Education & Recreational Management from Loughborough University.

His role is centred on creating a healthy, thriving club by managing and delivering the club’s adult and junior coaching programme’s in collaboration with the coaching team. Keith is incredibly passionate about helping people to enjoy the game of tennis and creating fun but challenging learning environments for everyone to develop and progress.

Keith has coached in many schools, parks, clubs and academies and has been privileged to work with players at all levels from complete beginners to elite juniors and Grand Slam level seniors. Having grown up in Sussex to become 18u County Champion and a National level junior himself, he is very proud to also be the County Performance Manager for Sussex, in a dual role.

Before starting at Southdown, Keith worked for the LTA for 12 years as the LTA London & South East Region’s Performance Manager and was based at the National Tennis centre. During his time with the LTA, he led the regional training programme, assisted with national training camps and captained Great Britain’s 10u, 12u and 16u teams. He also managed the LTA’s investment across a network of coaching programmes and developed and delivered a region-wide coach education programme.

Sam Mills

Part-Time and Saturday Coach

Sam has over seventeen years of experience coaching at all levels of the game throughout Britain and abroad. An LTA Level 4 Senior Performance Coach, Sam has spent a decade working extensively in junior high performance academies and centres with players at national and international levels, preparing athletes for the NCAA and the Tour. Sam holds a BSc in Sport Coaching Science and an MSc in Sport Management. He has served as an LTA Performance Coach Representative, helping develop coaches and clubs and improve performance tennis pathways throughout the country.
Sam is thrilled to have recently returned home to Sussex and is excited to give back to the community where his own love for the game began. Sam is most passionate about helping people of all levels and abilities realise their potential. He is a development pathway specialist who has coached numerous players from beginner level to top in the nation. Sam has led successful county programs and equally has found success as a community coach delivering adult and junior development tennis, disability, and club team programs.
